Original Item: Only One Available. German propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels and the American Office of War Information took on similar tasks during World War II. Both worked to persuade citizens of the importance of the war effort, stir up patriotism, and emphasize crucial efforts like resource conservation and silence about military tactics. This is a very nice German WWII propaganda poster, mounted to a posterboard and measuring a nice displayable 21 1/4" x 33 1/4". It depicts the known image of Ritterkreuzträger der Infanterie (Knights Cross Recipient of the Infantry) but in this case the red text surrounding the soldier is DIE FRONT SPRICHT ZUR HEIMAT (The Front Calls to the Homeland".
We are not sure if this was intended as more of a recruitment poster or a donation poster, but the message is clear. The lower left of the poster is marked with Plakat Nr. 31 der Reichspropagandaleitung (Poster No. 31 of the Reich Propaganda Directorate), and the lower right is marked Rotations-Tiefdruck: Bauer Mannheim (Rotogravure printing: Bauer Mannheim). There does look to be a name written on the poster on the middle right, but we do not know if this is from the original artist, or the soldier that brought back this item.
A very interesting piece of German WWII propaganda, ready to research and display!
