Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Insignia, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with. It includes nice variety of Police Insignia, as well as some things that we have never seen before!
This lovely set includes:
- One bullion embroidered German WWII Schutzpolizei Offiziere Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen (Protection Police Officer Arm Eagle Insignia). The badge features a "police green" wool background, with an aluminum bullion embroidered civic police eagle insignia. The swas at the bottom is embroidered with black thread. Condition is good, showing loss of the paper backing, and the aluminum bullion on the front has oxidized, now showing a whitish color. We can see stitch marks around the edge through the fabric backing, so this is definitely a uniform removed example.
- One PAIR of German WWII Schutzpolizei Protection Police NCO Meister Shoulder Straps, button-attached style. They are bordered with a single row of of fine silver flatware "Russia Braid" double piping around the edge, with brown chevrons woven into the design. Inside this is a braid of brown double piping woven together with the silver double piping with the same brown chevrons, giving them a lovely look. The base and strap are the correct Hellgrün (light green) wool, the correct Truppenfarbe (troop color) for the protection police (Schupo). Meister (Master), or Warrant Officer, is highest NCO rank in the police, which did not have an armed forces equivalent, but was higher than an army Oberfeldwebel (Master Sergeant).
- One PAIR of German WWII Schutzpolizei Protection Police NCO Litzen Collar Tabs. They are made from Hellgrün (light green) fabric with two embroidered aluminum litzenspiegel on each, which are attached to lacquered buckram stiffeners. There is a row of twisted aluminum bullion braid around the circumference, and are in excellent condition.
- One German WWII Small Police Shako Wappen Front Plate Insignia, made from stamped aluminum. It is only 3 7/8" wide, definitely smaller than we usually see, so we do not know if it is for a different type of shako, or some different type of cap altogether. It is maker marked C.T.D. for C. Theodor Dicke on the back by the swas, and both attachment prongs are missing.
- One German First Pattern Pre WWII Police Visor Cap Stamped Eagle Insignia. This early version is made from silvered stamped alloy, and the eagle faced to the right, and is not the same style as used later.
- One 1942 dated German police support donation tinnie pin.
A wonderful totally genuine grouping perfect for the German Police Insignia collector. Ready to research and display!
