The National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps; NSFK) was a paramilitary organization of the NSDAP Party that was founded 15 April 1937 as a successor to the German Air Sports Association; the latter had been active during the years when a German air force was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles. The NSFK organization was based closely on the para-military organization of the Sturmabteilung (SA). A similar group was the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK).

During the early years of its existence, the NSFK conducted military aviation training in gliders and private airplanes. Friedrich Christiansen, originally a Generalleutnant then later a Luftwaffe General der Flieger, was NSFK Korpsführer from 15 April 1937 until 26 June 1943, followed by Generaloberst Alfred Keller until 8 May 1945.

This is a lovely NSFK "yearbook" from one of the many flying competitions the group organized before the war. It is a cloth covered book measuring 8 1/4"W x 11 5/8"H, and is 32 pages long. The cover has the NSFK "Icarus" emblem embossed in gold, surrounded by the following:

    Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps

    NSFK
    (Icarus Emblem)

    Rhön-Segelflugwettbewerb 1938
    19. Rhön

The bottom two lines translate to "Rhön Gliding Competition, 19th Rhön District".

The pages in the book begin with a picture and short introduction by Friedrich Christiansen, Generalleutnant and Leader of the NSFK. The pages after this give a detailed account of the competition, along with pictures, maps, and results. Overall condition is very good, though the book may have gotten moist at some point, as the pages do show a bit of wrinkling. The photo plates are also a bit degraded, as they look to have becoming stuck to the opposing pages a bit over the years.

A great piece of WWII NSFK memorabilia, ready to research and display!
