  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent condition German WWII Luftwaffe Flieger Kopfhaube (Aviator Helmet/Hood), model LKp W101. This is a helmet for winter, as indicated by the W. It is made of leather, with a very nice rabbit fur lining, which has a chamois backed forehead area and neck straps. It comes with a fully correct and intact communication setup, with attached throat microphones, installed LN26602 headphones, and a bakelite 4 pin connector on the back. This helmet also comes with an original pair of Luftwaffe flight goggles whose straps fit perfectly into the slots on the back of the helmet.

The helmet still has a clear original manufacturers tag on the interior rear:

    FL. Kopfhaube  Gr. 57
    Baumuster LKp W101
    Gerät - Nr  124-436 A
    Werk -l K.Hsl
    Anf. Z    Ln 26618
    Hersteller
    bxo

"bxo" is the German three letter code for maker Deutsche Telephonwerke & Kabelindustrie AG of Berlin, a manufacturer of telephone and radio equipment. We do not know if they manufactured this flying helmet, or whether it was shipped to them for outfitting with the avionics. Overall condition is very good to excellent.

The throat microphones are marked Mi4c and Ln 26779-3 meaning the avionics are composed of oval Mi4c magnetic type throat microphones with four-pole break coupling/plug. They are also marked bxo for the same maker as the helmet. The helmet carries the short communication cord favored by fighter pilots and is fitted with a plug that is nicely marked BLK v FL 27560. The cord itself is heavily worn with material covering loss near the plug as shown.

The goggles are maker marked O.W. on the top, for O.W. Wagener & Co. of Rathenow, Germany, a known maker of these goggles during WWII. They feature Luftwaffe gray aluminum frames, and the black rubber surrounds are actually still relatively soft, with functional elastic, although there are some tears in the elastic as shown.

This really is a nice example of a German WWII Flying helmet, complete with headphones and goggles. Ready to add to your collection!
