Original German WWII Kriegsmarine Navy U-Boat 7x50 Binoculars by Carl Zeiss (blc) with Rubber Objective Fittings

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good pair of extremely rare German WWII Kriegsmarine U-boat 7x50 binoculars, made by Carl Zeiss of Jena, a specialist lens maker, and one of the finest makers of the time. They are equipped with rubber fittings around the objective lenses though it does appear that these may have had more rubber pieces but were removed. Rubber fitted optics made them virtually impervious to moisture, possibly even if immersed in water for a short time, definitely a plus on a U-boat! As they normally have the rubber fittings, the eyepieces do not have bakelite cups, as they are part of the rubber molding.

The rear of the right barrel is marked with the following under the rubber cover:

7 x 50
2109763
blc

The use of the three letter code indicates that these were made after 1940. "blc" marked on represents Carl Zeiss, Jena, a legendary maker of optics.

The binoculars do show signs of use and wear, especially present on the paint, but the optics are still clear and the binos present as being completely functional. The original leather neckstrap is still present though it does show wear and cracking.

A solid example of an incredibly rare set of U-Boat binoculars. Comes more than ready for further research and display!
