This is an original German WWII Heer Army officer Feldmütze älterer Art, commonly known as a crusher cap, manufactured by Peter Küpper under the Peküro label. The cap measures approximately 54cm. Peter Küpper of Ronsdorf was regarded as one of the premier German cap manufacturers of the period, alongside makers such as EREL and Wilhelm Welhausen, and Peküro caps were highly regarded both during the war and among collectors today. It is constructed from field gray Feldgrau wool with a dark bottle green Flaschengrün band, light blue Hellblau branch piping, a flexible leather visor, and the soft unstiffened crown characteristic of this field cap pattern. 

The Feldmütze älterer Art, or Old Pattern Field Cap, was designed as a softer and more practical alternative to the rigid officer Schirmmütze. It was normally made without a crown stiffener and with a flexible visor, allowing the cap to be compressed or packed more easily for field use. This example has no chinstrap or officer cords, and there is no indication that either was ever fitted.

The cap body is made from fine field gray wool with a dark bottle green badge cloth band and a traditional high forward crown. Light blue Hellblau piping runs around the crown and along both edges of the band. This branch color was associated with Heer transport troops, Fahrtruppen, and later with supply troops, Nachschubtruppen.

The front is fitted with a silver colored woven Heer eagle above an embroidered wreath surrounding the national tricolor cockade. Both insignia remain in very good condition with only light age toning and much of their original metallic appearance still visible.

The flexible black leather visor remains supple and securely attached. Both the upper and lower surfaces show fine checking and crazing to the finish from age, but no major splits or structural damage are noted.

The interior is lined in aqua colored rayon twill faux silk. The lining shows wear, staining, and soiling concentrated toward the center of the crown from service use. There is no evidence that a celluloid sweatshield was ever installed, and no corresponding stitch holes are visible.

The light brown leather sweatband remains complete and supple with no major tears or cracking. It shows normal staining and wear, particularly in the forehead area.

Overall condition is very good. The field gray wool, dark green band, and light blue piping retain strong color, and no obvious moth damage is visible. Minor creasing is present at the front and rear from storage on its side, but there is no major deformation or structural damage.

With its Peküro maker mark, soft unstiffened crusher configuration, flexible leather visor, light blue Transport / Supply branch piping, original woven insignia, and measured 54cm size, this is a strong example of a Heer officer Feldmütze älterer Art. The light lining stains, sweatband wear, visor crazing, and storage creases are all fully disclosed. It would fit especially well in a Heer Transport, Supply, Peküro headgear, officer field cap, or advanced German WWII uniform collection.
