Original Item: Only One Available. This very nice condition summer tunic is fabricated from a white cotton material, which is both lightweight and soft, showing a very interesting star pattern weave. The front has vertical closure of 8 plated steel buttons with pebbled aluminum uppers, and there are also two hook and hoop closures for the collar. There are four pockets on the front, one on each breast and larger ones at the waist on both sides, each designed with a decorative pleat and pebbled buttons. All of the buttons except for those on the shoulders are retained by brass clips on the back. The tunic is not lined, and there are no internal pockets, though there is the correct eyelet opening into the left waist pocket for an officer dagger.
The right breast above the pocket is enriched with a silvered metal breast eagle insignia pin held in place via a horizontally-aligned vertical white sleeve, with a horizontal loop below which attaches to a hook on the bottom. As is correct for a summer uniform, there are no collar tab insignia present. The shoulders are adorned with Heer Artillery Stabsoffiziere Schulterstücken (Staff Officer shoulder boards), incorporating two rows of fine silver flatware "Russia Braid" double piping, which are plaited together to form a loop around the buttonhole. The sides and underside are Hochrot (Deep Red), which was the Waffenfarbe (corps color) during WWII for Artillery, as well as General Level Officers. As this is a Staff Grade officer, it must be for Artillery. There are no rank "pips" installed, indicating the rank of Major, equivalent to the same Rank in the U.S. Army. There is also a gold number 4 cypher, most likely for the 4th Artillery Regiment.
