  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very interesting German WWII-era desk ornament depicting an M16-style Stahlhelm with double-decals, cast in bronze or a similar bronze-finished metal and mounted on a rectangular marble base. The helmet retains the characteristic projecting ventilation lugs of the First World War M16 pattern, together with embossed representations of the German national tricolor shield and the Wehrmacht eagle shield associated with early Third Reich transitional helmets. The marble base measures approximately 3 ½ x 4 ⅞ x ¾ inches, while the complete ornament stands approximately 3 inches tall.

The helmet has embossed double decals, one with the tricolor and one with the German eagle with a swas. The statue’s marble base measures 3 ½ x 4 ⅞ x ¾” and the statue with the base measures 3” tall. There is some chipping to the marble base, and there are two holes on one side where a small plaque once was, now gone.

This ornament specifically represents the early double-decal Heer configuration, with an embossed national tricolor shield on one side and a German Army eagle-and-swas shield on the other. Double-decal transitional M16 and M18 helmets are well documented, particularly among helmets refurbished during the mid-1930s before regulations increasingly reduced or eliminated the use of multiple helmet decals.

This desk ornament is especially interesting for the way it captures that transitional period in German military equipment, combining the unmistakable long ventilation lugs of the WWI M16 Stahlhelm with the double-decal insignia of the early Wehrmacht. The surviving marble base, embossed helmet details, and evidence of a now-missing presentation plaque make it a distinctive example of German military-themed decorative art from the WWII era.
