Original German WWII Diplomatic Corps - Government Official Buckle with Felt Padded Leather Belt

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a rare German WWII Diplomatisches Korps / Staatsbeamte (Diplomatic Corps / State officials) belt buckle, constructed from die stamped nickel alloy, which looks to possibly be gold washed. We usually see these on brocade dress type belts, but this one has been installed on a black patent leather belt, which it is stitched directly to, and has been for a very long time. This is one of the few times that we have had one of these rare buckles, which look to have come in at least 4 different variations. This looks to be one of the types adopted in 1940. The design features a round Laurel Leaf wreath with a bow at the bottom, with a spread-wing early pattern NSDAP Reichsadler Eagle looking to the viewer's left. There are no maker marks on the buckle that we can see, and it shows a lovely patina of age.
The buckle is attached by its double square ring to a long quality black patent leather belt with black felt padding on the interior. It has a leather length adjustment tab with a double row of seven holes, as seen on standard leather belts, however in this case the aluminum claw clasp is attached to this and hooks together with the buckle. The belt itself measures about 42” from the buckle to the clip in the longest position, and we cannot see any markings on it. The black patent leather finish has "melted" and degraded overall, giving it a great aged look.
