Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely pair of blue gray leather trousers, part of the grey leather deck uniform in a variant pattern as worn by lower ranked Kriegsmarine personnel. These would be used with a similar colored leather deck jacket, designed to protect the wearer from the elements.
The trousers are of fine grey leather having exterior brace buttons on the waistband. The front of the trousers has a button fly with a metal hook at the top, and the rear has an opening with leather sizing strap and metal buckle, which has never had the prongs pressed through the strap. They are fully lined with blue cotton twill cloth and they retain a complete maker label, which reads:
Thiel & Ergenzinger
Stuttgart W, Militärstr.127
Spezialfabrik für
Lederbekleidung und Sporthandschuhe
Größe 50.
Datum 28. JUL. 1942
We also noticed an Eagle / M Marineamt inspection marking on the left front of the trousers, something we rarely see! The trousers show light to moderate wear on the exterior, with areas on the edges of the folds that show loss of the finish. There is also some cracking and degradation of the leather around the waist area, particularly on the back.
A beautiful pair of trousers, as associated with deck and U-boat personnel offered in very good condition with some great markings.
