  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German pre-WWII Luftwaffe EM/NCO aluminum belt buckle, or Koppelschloß, manufactured by Richard Sieper & Söhne of Lüdenscheid and accompanied by its original 1938 dated leather tab. The buckle is additionally L.B.A. marked for the Luftwaffe clothing administration, giving this example particularly strong prewar identification.

    The aluminum box buckle has a pebbled background and features the Luftwaffe straight tail eagle within a laurel wreath. Construction is of lightweight injection-molded aluminum with the reverse hardware crimped into place. The buckle remains very well shaped with no significant deformation, though the raised eagle details and portions of the pebbling show noticeable wear from service.

    The reverse is marked near the catch:

    R. S. & S.

    for Richard Sieper & Söhne of Lüdenscheid, a well known German manufacturer of military belt buckles and related fittings.

    The original leather tab remains attached and is clearly marked:

    R. SIEPER & SÖHNE
    * 1938 *
    LÜDENSCHEID

    Above the maker marking is the additional stamp:

    L.B.A.

    for the Luftwaffen-Bekleidungsamt, or Luftwaffe Clothing Office. This type of administrative property marking is associated with prewar and early Luftwaffe issue equipment and is an especially desirable feature on a dated buckle and tab combination.

    The leather tab remains in good condition overall, showing expected age wrinkling and surface wear. Most of the original stitching is still intact, though several areas have pulled free. The leather remains complete and the stamped markings are well preserved and legible.

    The buckle itself is in very good service used condition, with an attractive lightly aged aluminum patina and no major structural damage. Wear to the eagle and pebbled field is visible but even, giving the buckle a convincingly used appearance without excessive abuse.

    With its 1938 dated leather tab, matching Richard Sieper & Söhne maker markings, prominent L.B.A. property stamp, pebbled aluminum construction, and Luftwaffe straight tail eagle design, this is a strong prewar example of a Luftwaffe EM/NCO belt buckle. The worn raised details, leather wrinkling, and partially pulled stitching are all fully disclosed. It would fit especially well in a Luftwaffe uniform, German prewar equipment, belt buckle, or advanced Third Reich field gear collection.
