  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce example of the French M1833 Naval dirk. Manufactured using blades from obsolete socket bayonets at the Manufacture d'armes Chatellerault, around 24,000 were produced for use by boarding parties. In October 1915, 10,500 of these dirks were issued to French troops as trench daggers.

This example is in great shape with a clear Naval anchor inspection stamp on the crossguard. The ricasso of the 6 ⅝” blade shows a small maker’s logo, a B in a diamond.

The pommel retains the screw nut meant to keep the knife together. The overall length is 11⅝”.

The 7 ⅜” scabbard is in great shape with a small piece of canvas at the throat to make sheathing easier. It fits the blade well.

A very rare example, ready for display.

    Dimensions:
    Blade Length: 6 5/8”
    Total Length: 11 5/8”
    Scabbard Length: 7 3/8”
