Original Item: Only One Available: This is a very rare British Royal Flying Corps Pilot’s cuff rank tunic. Cuff rank tunics are one of the most difficult models of WWI British uniforms to find. This example is missing the collar insignia, but this could easily be sourced.
This is a very rare pre-1916 model British officer’s cuff rank tunic for a Lieutenant Pilot in the Royal Flying Corps. The tunic has a set of Royal Flying Corps pilot’s wings above the left breast, much more difficult to find than the RAF examples. The uniform has all General Service uniform buttons, and there are Lieutenant cuff ranks on both cuffs. There is very minor mothing across the uniform, but nothing too noticeable. There is shadowing where there were insignia pinned to the collar, and on the shoulder boards as well.
The tunic has no lining, and no markings or tags we can find anywhere. The construction is correct for the period and the cuff ranks even incorporate some bullion, very rare to see although there is some minor loss to the bullion.
There is no name associated with the uniform that we could find. The officer’s cuff rank tunic is one of - if not - the most iconic uniform models of the First World War. We have not offered one in a while, and we don’t expect to find another very soon.
