The Bofors 40 mm gun, often referred to simply as the Bofors gun, is an anti-aircraft autocannon designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War II, used by most of the western Allies as well some captured systems being used by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Persian Gulf War.

To help users better understand the equipment they are using, examples like this cutaway were made. These were intended to give the users a look at the internal structure of the explosives, showing the different layers as well as where they connect or thread into each other.

The round itself is a wonderful display item even though the cutaway warhead appears to have been done somewhat recent. The cutaway components are very loose and able to be removed, but while displayed do so cautiously as these smaller parts that are removable come detached easily and can be lost.

The overall condition is quite nice though there is quite a bit of wear and some areas of past pitting.

A lovely example ready for further research and display.
