Regular price $4,995.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This knife is in unissued mint condition, as if someone placed it in a time capsule in the 1940s and opened it today, it's truly incredible to see in person.

Not much is known about the maker Leo F. Baker. He was from Chico and was a blacksmith for over 40 years. He filed patents for the design of some of his knives and in addition to making fighting knives he also produced civilian hunting knives. He claimed that his knives are the only ones that could cut through steel without damaging the blades.

This hefty combat knife is deeply stamped on the blade L. BAKER. The curved grip is constructed of thick leather rings. This knife has a steel guard, and a lead pommel and measures approximately 12 1/2” overall. The blade measures 7 1/2". Leo Baker made his knife blades out of files. This knife shows the file grooves. The blade appears to have never been used, is totally nick free and still very sharp.

The scabbard is correct for WW2 Bakers and was produced by ALFRED CORNISH a saddle maker from OMAHA NEBRASKA who also produced leather scabbards for Nichols knives. The top of the sheath is stamped 2 along with the maker name. The leather sheath is in new old stock mint condition.
