Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice late 19th century leather shotgun shell belt, probably made for 12 or 10 gauge shells. These were very useful out in the "Old West" before the days of repeating shotguns. Having quick access to shells for reloading could be the difference between dinner and going hungry, or in rougher times, living and dying.

This very substantial leather belt measures about 40 inches in overall length, made from several pieces of thick leather, and originally finished in black on the exterior side. It has a buckle at one end, and when fastened probably is adjustable from approximately 35 to 38 inches in circumference. It has 22 loops for holding shells, all of which are intact. Condition is very good, considering the age, though the black finish has flaked off in areas, as often seen with this kind of finish, popular in the late 19th century.

A great piece of frontier Americana, ready to display with your old top break shotgun!
