Original WWII Imperial Japanese 8.5° Field 8X30 Binoculars by AIKOKU with Carry Case

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice set of WWII issue Japanese army officer binoculars in original leather covered carry case, offered in very good condition. The binoculars are fully functional, with each side being having an independent focus diopter control. Optics are mostly clear, and able to focus accurately.

The binoculars are marked AIKOKU / TOKYO on the back of the left barrel, a known manufacture of binoculars during the WWII Period. Unfortunately we were not able to find much information on this company. The right barrel is marked with the specifications of the binoculars: Field 8.5° / 8X 30.

The overall condition is very good, with the plastic covering for the barrels retained well, and light wear overall, with great paint. The screw for the right barrel end piece is somewhat loose, and falls out. There is a nice synthetic leather neck strap installed, but we do not know if this is wartime or not.

The case looks to be of hard pressed paper or bent wood construction with a leather cover. Some components appear to be made completely of leather. The interior is lined with with dark pink velvet, and is quite attractive. The leather hinge is intact and functional, as is the closure latch, though part of the tab is torn away. The shoulder strap is solid, and shows wear commensurate with age.

Approximate dimensions are 7 1/2" x 6" x 3". Overall a great addition to any WWII Pacific Collection.
