Original German WWII Set of Three Vehicle Pennant Flags - Two NSDAP and One HJ Youth Organization

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice set of three German WWII Wimpel (Pennant) flags, all of which are in very good condition. They are all double sided, stitched together from two pieces of fabric, varying somewhat in size. These were usually be flown on a small staff attached to the fender of the automobile or other vehicle it was attached to.

The first two pennants in this collection are both standard NSDAP pennants, which vary a bit in size and construction. Both are double sided, and bear the red field with a black swas (hook cross) inside a white circle. The larger pennant is an officially issued example, with a faded paper RZM tag attached to one side. It measures approximately 7" x 12", and has steel rings at the corners. It has a reinforced dyed canvas header, and additional reinforcement stitching towards the end of the pennant. IT does look to have seen service, and has some staining and wear. It looks like it may have had multiple pins / badges attached to it at some time, which are now gone.

The second NSDAP pennant is a bit smaller, and not as robustly constructed. It looks to be more of a private purchase type, and measures about 6 1/2" x 10 1/4", with brass hanger rings at the corners. It is is multi-piece construction, and condition is excellent.

The last pennant is a small HJ National Youth Organization pennant, with the standard red/white/red background, with a white diamond containing a black swas (hook cross). The pennant is very well made, and measures about 5 1/2" by 9", showing only light wear.

A very nice set of German WWII Pennants, ready to add to your collection!

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920. The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.

The HJ or jugend, and often abbreviated as HJ in German, was the youth organization of the NSDAP Party in Germany. Its origins dated back to 1922 and it received the name jugend, Bund deutscher Arbeiterjugend ("HJ, League of German Worker Youth") in July 1926. From 1933 until 1945, it was the sole official youth organization in Germany and was partially a paramilitary organization; it was composed of the HJ proper for male youths aged 14 to 18, the German Youngsters in the HJ (Deutsches Jungvolk in der jugend or "DJ", also "DJV") for younger boys aged 10 to 14, and the League of German Girls (Bund Deutsche Mädel or "BDM").
