Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is an excellent poster! What makes this poster amazing is the fact that you could have it displayed alongside your “inspection ready” display! Not only does it show you how to properly lay out everything, it is number coded so you know what everything is. These field inspections, bunk inspections and “junk on the bunk” would all fall under not only the importance of gear accountability, but discipline as well.

Military discipline is not just about following orders or having a training program. It's about doing the right thing for the right reason, at the right time, and with the right attitude. Military discipline teaches you how to set goals, prioritise tasks, and take responsibility for your actions. Ensuring that all of your gear is present, serviceable and laid out for your leader to inspect is most definitely a form of discipline. Most of the time you are at your own demise when preparing for these inspections, you are expected to do the right thing and make sure everything is perfect so it can all be seen at a glance.

The poster came to us from the American Armoured Foundation, Inc. Tank and Ordnance Memorial Museum. The AAF Tank Museum was a living memorial dedicated to the Tank and Cavalry soldiers of the world. Before 1981 some of the artifacts that make up the AAF Tank Museum was a private collection belonging to Mr. William Gasser. Mr. Gasser felt that his collection would be beneficial in educating present and future generations to the sacrifices made and the technologies gained during war. Therefore, in 1981 the AAF Tank Museum was established as a non-profit charitable organization, and Mr. Gasser's donated his private collection to the Tank Museum. Mr. Gasser is still active as Volunteer Director and Curator of the Tank Museum and his knowledge of military history has been a great asset to the museum. Unfortunately after 20 years of operation it had to close its doors, which is when this was acquired.

The poster is a layout for the M-1956 Load-Carrying Equipment (LCE), also known as the Individual Load-Carrying Equipment (ILCE), which was developed by the U.S. Army and first issued in the early 1960s. The M-1956 LCE was designed to replace the M-1945 Combat Pack, the M-1923 cartridge belt, the M-1936 pistol belt and the M-1937 BAR magazine belt. The M-1956 LCE was designed to be quickly configured, using no tools, to accommodate various mission and ammunition loads. The M-1956 LCE remained in service through the 1980s and set the standard for future United States military load-carrying equipment.

The poster itself is in wonderful condition and even comes in a lovely frame, ensuring the preservation of the poster itself. The frame is a little scuffed with paint loss, but it did a wonderful job protecting the fragile paper. The whole thing measures approximately 38” x 25 ⅜” FRAMED, we have not removed the poster to measure.
