Original German WWII Luftwaffe DAK Afrika Korps Embroidered Breast Eagle

Regular price $350.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a superb embroidered breast eagle from a German WWII Luftwaffe (Air Force) Uniform, as worn on the Tropical uniforms used during the North Africa campaign. It is made from the correct DAK Afrikakorps colors, dunkelgelb (dark yellow) fabric with an embroidered silver / white machine embroidered eagle. It does not look to have been attached to a uniform at any time, though it does have a fabric backing, with what looks to be some glue residue.

There is just a bit of wear and age toning, but otherwise it is a great example. Ready to display!

The Afrika Korps or German Africa Corps (Deutsches Afrikakorps or DAK) was the German expeditionary force in Africa during the North African Campaign of World War II. First sent as a holding force to shore up the Italian defense of their African colonies, the formation fought on in Africa, under various appellations, from March 1941 until its surrender in May 1943. Both the Heer and Luftwaffe branches of the Wehrmacht wore uniforms specifically designed for the conditions in the more arid climate.
