Item Description

Original Items: Only One Grouping Available. Now this is a lovely little “starter” grouping, perfect for young collectors getting into the hobby. It hecks off some major starting items like a name engraved medal, documents pertaining to individual, unit insignia and patched insignia. The grouping itself belonged to Private First Class Noble P. Casey (ASN: 35923314) of the 273rd Infantry Regiment, 69th Infantry Division. We have not been able to locate much service information making this an excellent candidate for more in depth research!

The 69th Infantry Division, nicknamed the "fighting 69th," was a Division of the United States Army formed during World War II. It is distinct from the 69th Infantry Regiment (New York) (the "Fighting 69th").

The shoulder sleeve insignia of the division, which is also included in the group, was designed by its then commander Maj. Gen. Charles L. Bolte with the red, white, and blue being the colors of the United States forming a "6" and a "9".

The Items In This Grouping:

- Bronze Star Set With (2) Copies of Citation: The reverse of the medal is engraved with NOBLE P. CASEY and is offered in wonderful condition but is missing the lapel device. He did not receive this award until October 6, 1950. The documents state that he was awarded this medal for “exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy on or about 29 February 1945, in the European Theater of Operations, while assigned as Private First Class, Company C, 273rd Infantry Regiment”. The documents are a little worn but otherwise still legible.

- War Service Record “Wallet” by Firestone With “Service Ribbons and Decorations: The devices present inside are the Combat Infantry Badge, 5 ribbons and two 273rd Regiment rare Distinctive Unit Insignia.

- x5 Patched Insignia

- 69th Infantry Division Pictorial History: WQe discovered something incredible written in the pages of this book. The last few pages PFC Casey ensured that his “combat chronicle” would never be forgotten.

A wonderful grouping ready for further research and display.
