Original U.S. Pre-WWII Era 8 Day Automobile Clock by Elgin with Mounting Brackets

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Just received out of a large Pacific Coast militaria collection! This is a very nice 8 day Automobile style clock, made by the well known Elgin National Watch Company, located in Elgin, Illinois. They manufactured many different types of timepieces for the U.S. Military during WWII.  While this clock is not specifically manufactured for the military, they were still often mounted to vehicles to have a handy timepiece.

The clock is about 2 3/4" inches across, not counting the mounting brackets, which made it relatively easy for anyone in a smaller vehicle to see. The face is correctly marked ELGIN and 8 DAYS on either side of the center. The case is the standard plated brass, and has mounting brackets on either side for attachment to a dashboard or other part of a vehicle.

The rear and front case of the clock are removable, and the movement is marked with serial number 25677543 and 8 DAYS above ELGIN NATIONAL WATCH CO. / MADE IN U.S.A.. Research indicates that this movement was originally produced in 1923, and is a Model 1 in size 37s with a 7 Jewel movement. It is listed as Grade 471.

Definitely an interesting time piece from the Pre-WWII era, which may have seen service. Ready to research and display!

NOTE: This clock is sold as is, and we cannot guarantee that it will run when received. It is being sold for collectors purposes only.
