Original U.S. Korean War Era Inert 81mm M43A1B1 HE Mortar Round Used As Training Round During The Vietnam Era - Dated 1952

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely condition M43A1B1 High Explosive 81mm Mortar round with M52A2 fuze, used as a training round during the Vietnam War era. The round is completely void of any explosive content and is unable to be rendered live again to be used as a destructive device in accordance per the current BATF guidelines.

This round is used against personnel and light materiel, providing both fragmentation and blast effect.

The complete round consists of a projectile body, a 1953 dated point-detonating M52A2 fuze, a tin assembly, a propellant charge, and an ignition charge with a percussion primer. The projectile body is of forged steel, and is threaded internally at the nose to accept the fuze and at the base to accept the fin assembly. The projectile body was filled with Composition B high explosive.

Overall condition is very good but it does show signs of storage wear as well as field use, which is typical for training devices. There is no significant damage that we can find. This is a wonderful opportunity to add a piece of ordnance with history from two different wars.
