Original WWI Italian M16 “Lippmann Model” Adrian Helmet Possibly Used By Spanish Nationalists

Regular price $295.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good example of a World War I Model 1916 Italian Army Lippmann model helmet. These helmets are near identical to the French M1915 model, with some key differences including the top comb being welded instead of riveted, and the exterior being painted green. This example has an insignia painted on the front featuring an RF below a horn.

This helmet has a full liner with a good chinstrap, but one of the posts has been lost, so the chinstrap only connects to one side. The liner is initialed and named, although it is faint. The insignia painted on the front appears to be French, with the RF that appears on all French Adrian badges, and a horn akin to that of the French Light Infantry Adrian badge. There are remnants of blue paint which appear to be on top of the green paint. There are two holes punches for an insignia, but this is not seen with the M16 Lippmann helmets, so the holes may have been added later. The insignia is interesting and requires further research. There is a dent in the side of the helmet as shown. Overall fine and ready for display.
