Original U.S. WWII Rare Cast Aluminum Handle Fighting Knife by Donald Moore of Minneapolis With Leather Sheath

Regular price $495.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a rare and beautiful fighting knife from the World War II era, expertly crafted by the Donald Moore of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The knife is classified as a "private purchase" fighting knife, purchased by American GIs and produced by a small number of knifemakers during the war. Mr. Moore, who was the president of a casket company in Minneapolis, utilized the scrap materials left over from his business to handcraft the knife blocks. Mr. Moore's WWII fighting knives became renowned and were sold to Kennedy Brothers Arms in St. Paul. Additionally, he was known for his generosity towards soldiers, as he would give his fighting knives to any soldier for free if they showed up at his door in uniform. This fighting knife is a testament to Mr. Moore's skill as a knifemaker and his dedication to supporting the troops serving in the American military during WWII.

The overall condition is quite nice with just the smallest amount of wear present, most likely from years spent in storage. The handle is still stamped with the MOORE / MPLS marking that is a bit difficult to read. The included leather sheath could be a later addition or is a near mint condition original.

A lovely set ready for further research and display.
