Original Austrian Pre - WWI Era Named Diplomatic Uniform Tailcoat by Moritz Tiller of Vienna - Dated 1909

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent example of a very hard to find Austrian Diplomatic uniform tailcoat. The coat itself is in fantastic condition but for some reason it does appear that all of the buttons down the front were intentionally removed for reasons unknown. There is no extensive damage present and all of the bullion adornments are still very well attached with light tarnishing present.

Diplomatic uniforms are ornate uniforms worn by diplomats from some countries at public occasions. Introduced by European states around 1800 and patterned on court dress, they were abandoned by most countries in the twentieth century, but diplomats from some countries retain them for rare, formal occasions.

The uniform still retains the tailor label on the interior left pocket for Moritz Tiller of Vienna. Moritz Tiller established the company in 1850 in Vienna and expanded its operations by opening branch shops in Budapest and Belgrade. The company remained in business until at least 1918, gaining a reputation for producing a wide variety of high-quality medals and decorations, which were sought after for their intricate designs and craftsmanship.

The uniform does have quite a bit of moth nips present but thankfully the dark color of the uniform hides them pretty well. There is some minor stitching loss on the collar and the cuff sleeves but nothing that harms the integrity of the uniform.

A great example ready for further research and display.
