One-of-a-kind: Only One Available. Regimentally marked and still in its original flintlock configuration making this  rare military pistol from Danish military service! This is a fine, very scarce example of the large Danish Model 1772 service pistol used by both the Dragoon cavalry and the Danish Navy from its adoption in 1772 through the early 1800s. Surviving examples in original flintlock form are seldom offered. This piece is particularly desirable because it retains original features, military markings, and later proofing that help tell its story.

Stock & mounts: Beech wood stock with heavy brass mounts; original light varnish remnants flaking along the grain.

Markings: Serial "12" (side plate, barrel, butt plate); small marking inside frizzen spring (appears to show letter B in a box); additional barrel marking “LCN = 58” (unidentified) but possible regimental markings.

Proof marks: Danish proofing and later Liège proof (E / L G / * in crowned oval) — evidence of inspection after 1815.

Lock function: Lock is serviceable — holds at half cock and releases to fire at full cock (antique mechanism; see condition below).

Condition

Overall very good for age with a pleasing, honest patina. Metal shows age-appropriate oxidation and wear; bore condition not guaranteed for shooting (sold as a collectible / display item). Stock is sound with original brass furniture; varnish is old and flaking in places. Mechanically the original flintlock lock functions (holds at half cock, operates at full cock) — presented for collector inspection and display. No modern alterations evident.

Historical context 

These pistols were in Danish service through the period of the Napoleonic Wars when Denmark’s navy and army were actively engaged in the shifting alliances of northern Europe. Production was limited relative to major continental powers, making surviving military-issue examples uncommon and desirable to militaria collectors and researchers.

Excellent candidate for further provenance research thanks to serial marks and Liège proof.

Attractive for museum or private display — classic example of late-18th century Scandinavian military small arms.
