If you have ever done real backpacking and camping, this is doubtlessly an item that you are familiar with. Founded in 1900, the Coleman company has been producing camping equipment such as stoves, lanterns, and other items for over a century. When WWII broke out, they were a clear option to provide small camp stoves and lanterns for use in the field.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou could never fully appreciate these portable stoves until you’ve had to survive with one. Surprisingly enough, small camp stoves are still used in today’s military. Believe it or not, these items were very important in the survival of servicemembers in the field!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a standard model of the time, and the nicest example of a Coleman stove we’ve ever offered, measuring about 8 1\/2 inches tall, and 4 inches across. It is designed to run off gasoline, either leaded or more preferably white, which did not have any additives. The stoves had no need for the lubricating properties of leaded gas, and it was also safer for the soldiers. The stove features fold out feet on the bottom and fold out burner supports on the top to increase the stability.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bottom of the F Canister is marked \u003cstrong\u003eU.S. \/ C.M. MFG. CO. \/ 1945\u003c\/strong\u003e. The canister has very heavy denting on all sides. The side of the brass fuel tank is marked with the maker and date information:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eU.S.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e- 1945 -\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eColeman\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis indicates that it was definitely a military issued stove, and not a civilian version. The stove looks to be in good condition, but it is missing the funnel. The fuel cap opens, the fuel valve turns, and the burner adjustment also still moves, though we have not checked to see if the needle is still present and intact. This is a good overall example.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt still has the spare parts tube with contents.
