We had these available for years, but now they have become very hard to come by! This is a lovely Beretta MP38A Inert Display Sub Machine Gun, built from all original parts on an original BATF compliant non-firing display receiver, making this a 100% legal display Sub-Machine gun. This receiver was created by using the front barrel bushing and magazine well portion of a flame cut demilitarized receiver, attached to a BATF compliant solid machined aluminum dummy rear receiver. It has had well over 50% of the total length completely replaced by solid aluminum, making this totally legal to own without a license of any kind. Every part on this display gun is original WWII Era manufacture other than 50%+ of the receiver replaced by solid aluminum (as required by BATF). This makes a perfect display piece of an exceptionally hard to find WWII Submachine Gun.

Though Italian manufactured by Beretta, these fantastic SMGs were used in great numbers by the German Wehrmacht throughout WWII. This example is missing the bayonet lug but retains the slot in the stock for the rare folding bayonet. It also has an intact front barrel band and sling swivel, which are often missing. Both the front and rear trigger still move, and the front trigger "clicks", and the safety on this example is present but is loose, falling into safe on its own. The barrel, unlike many we have had, is still LIVE, and has a very good bore, with strong lands and grooves with a mostly bright finish.

Overall condition is very nice, despite the missing bayonet lug. The metalwork has been finished with our lovely gunmetal gray spray paint to give it a great look, and the stock has a lovely service used appearance. The stock has some scuffs and dings from storage wear, but is overall in fair shape. The stock retains a stamped serial number, 6767. Comes complete original Beretta stick magazine, which will be deactivated where required.

The MAB 38A was initially produced in comparatively limited quantities and saw issue particularly with Italian police, colonial, airborne, assault, military-police, and other formations for which compact automatic firepower was especially valuable.

The weapon was used by units of the Royal Italian Army, Regia Marina, Regia Aeronautica, Carabinieri, and other security organizations, with later simplified Beretta 38-series variants entering progressively wider service.

Following the September 8, 1943 Italian armistice, Beretta production continued in northern Italy under German influence and for the German-aligned Italian Social Republic.

German forces also adopted large numbers of Beretta 38-series weapons, which were known in German service under the designation MP 738(i). By the final stages of WWII, Beretta submachine guns were used by German Army, police, security, and other formations as well as Italian RSI forces.

The MAB 38 family earned a reputation for excellent machining, reliability, controllability, and accuracy compared with many other contemporary submachine guns. Its quality came at the cost of comparatively expensive and labor-intensive manufacture, one reason later wartime variants such as the 38/42 and 38/44 were substantially simplified.

This example remains in very good overall display condition, with the missing bayonet lug, loose safety, later gray exterior finish, and service wear to the stock being the principal condition considerations.

The combination of the original ventilated barrel jacket, original barrel, surviving magazine-well and front receiver components, twin-trigger arrangement, front barrel band and sling swivel, stock numbered 6767, original Beretta magazine, and permanently non-firing solid aluminum display receiver section makes this a particularly substantial representation of the classic WWII MAB 38A. Its mixture of genuine wartime components and permanently inert display construction allows the important external features of the Beretta design to be preserved while clearly distinguishing the assembly from a functioning original submachine gun.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-wwii-italian-beretta-mp38a-smg-with-ventilated-barrel-jacket-correct-magazine
