Original WWI Era U.S. Marine Corps Summer Dress Enlisted Bell Crown Visor Cap with Postcard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition U.S. Marine Corps summer color "Bell Crown" visor cap, intended to be work by Enlisted Men for dress and parade occasions. The name comes from the pronounced flare out towards the top of the cap. This cap is summer weight, and is constructed of wool fabric stretched over a wicker inner frame. It is a great WWI Era OD green color, which has more tan than later variants used in WWII.

The cap features a lacquered fabric brim, probably supported by pressed paper. The front of the cap bears the correct era bronze EGA, with a brown chinstrap with two USMC side buttons. Minor nips and pulls but the hat is sound, not crushed or broken. Original size label still on interior is 7 1/8. Also included is a framed original era postcard of a Marine Corps enlisted man in uniform wearing this style hat!

A great example to pick up a rare cap from the WWI Era!
