Original WWI Era U.S. Marine Corps Dress Blue Enlisted Bell Crown Visor Cap by J.N. Susskind & Co.

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition U.S. Marine Corps Dress Blue "Bell Crown" visor cap, intended to be worn by Enlisted Men for dress and parade occasions. The name comes from the pronounced flare out towards the top of the cap. This cap is constructed of wool fabric stretched over a wicker inner frame.

The cap features a black leather brim, supported by pressed paper or fabric. The brown faux sweatband is stitched to the body of the hat, and is really in great shape, considering the age. It is marked on the underside by the maker:

J.N. SUSSKIND & CO., Inc.
Philadelphia, Pa.
Contract No. 117. November ??

There are also some words or names written in the inside of the cap, but they have faded, and are not legible anymore.

The front of the cap bears the correct bright brass EGA for the "dress blue" scheme, with a black leather adjustable chinstrap with two USMC side buttons. No moth issues to report, the hat is sound, not crushed or broken. We estimate the size to be 7 or so.

A great example to pick up a rare cap from the WWI Era!
