Original Vietnam War souvenir “Party Jacket” from a member of the 101st Airborne. Party Jackets and Party Suits were common with troops in Vietnam. Worn when off duty, these were a means of self expression. They became a popular souvenir of the war, with many being brought home by returning servicemen. Party Suits and Jackets ranged from very simple to incredibly elaborate, with some featuring extensive direct embroidery, bullion insignia, and so on. Most, if not all featured insignia made by local tailors (most often referred to as “incountry” made), who would fabricate handmade insignia to sell to American GIs. The insignia ranged from official U.S. military insignia, to novelty pieces which could range from militaristic to humorous in nature.

This particular jacket was made using an OG-107 Utility Shirt. The jacket has nine Vietnamese-Made Incountry Patches sewn to the shirt. Every piece of Insignia on the shirt, sans the 101st Patch, is locally made. There are some incredible patches on this jacket that we have never seen Vietnamese made versions of. The shirt includes the following patches:
(x2) Viet Cong Hunting Club Patches, one sewn onto each chest pocket.
