These were issued in plastic envelopes with an attached twill cord, both of which are fully retained on this example.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis set also includes a small page with translations as well as the Calling Card of \u003cstrong\u003eLieutenant Edward Dalton Ebbeson\u003c\/strong\u003e, a Bombardier and Navigator with the 603rd Bombardment Squadron, 398th Bombardment Group. His exploits are well-documented online.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA blood chit is a notice carried by military personnel and addressed to any civilians who may come across an armed-services member – such as a shot-down pilot – in difficulties. As well as identifying the force to which the bearer belongs as friendly, the notice displays a message requesting that the service member be rendered every assistance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is truly a wonderful example of an original blood chit which helped to identify the downed pilots overseas so that they could be helped.
