This is an excellent example of a private purchase fighting knife by the lesser known Marble Arms. The knife is offered in great condition with signs of minor use as well as being cared for over the years. It comes complete with the correct leather belt sheath. Known scabbards by Marble Arms (Marbles Knives) had the company name on the retaining strap snap button, like on this example. This is a beautifully crafted knife and with the proper care it would last for another 80 or so years with no problem!

Marble's has a rich history that dates back to 1892 when it was established as Marble Arms. Since its founding, the company's headquarters has remained in Gladstone, Michigan, solidifying its place as a key player in the firearm and sporting industries with over 25 innovative patents. The company's legacy includes significant milestones such as the British Army's adoption of Marble's No. 3 Safety Pocket Axes in 1902, the British government's procurement of Marble’s hunting knives for Army issue in 1916, Charles Lindbergh's reliance on Marble’s knife, compass, and matchbox during his historic first solo transatlantic flight in 1927, and the sale of 500 Pilot Survival knives to the U.S. Navy in 1958, accompanied by the release of proprietary manufacturing specifications.

This example has a 7 inch long single-edged clip-point blade. The blade is 1¼” wide (measured at widest point), and is of very sturdy construction. The oval ended brass cross guard is in good condition and still tight to the blade/handle. The stacked leather grip with black and red spacers are still present and in wonderful condition. While the handle is aged, there is no significant damage present. The pommel cap is solid and a staghorn example. The blade ricasso is marked:

MARBLE’S
GLADSTONE, MICH, U.S.A.

This knife has definitely been used, but not intentionally abused, and the blade does appear to have been sharpened much with a few very small nicks in the blade.

The leather scabbard has a lovely aged color, showing no oxidation and staining around the rivets.
