Most are familiar with the large 37mm Signal Flare pistols made by International Flare-Signal Co., but this is a much smaller \"M2\" model, with a frame and 2 1\/4\" \"barrel\" made entirely of plated brass. Instead of having a breech that opens, the flare on these are muzzle loaded, with the rim of the casing held in place by a brass latch on the left side of the pistol. Also unlike the larger version, these are double action, and even have a grip safety.
