This is a genuine very nice condition WWII U.S. Army M1917A1 \"Kelly\" Helmet. The helmet is complete with the original liner, and the shell has the original OD green paint mostly intact, including the textured \"corked\" exterior. It does however look to have been repainted during the war. The cork often would have the paint wear off, which would give it a speckled appearance. The shell is stamped \u003cstrong\u003eZC 202\u003c\/strong\u003e in the steel under the brim. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original leather liner is intact, with the expected wear from age and  service. There is some dry rot around the edge, but there is only light sweat staining. The felt padding under the liner is no longer present, probably removed to make a larger fit. The top tie for the liner is still intact, however the leather crown pad is unfortunately missing, a common occurrence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA great original early WWII helmet with lots of history. It was basically a M1917 helmet shell, as used during WWI, with and improved liner and chin strap assembly. These helmets were widely used by the US Army Troops that occupied the Pacific Islands before and the Pearl Harbor Attack.
