Each of the 75,000 Inland produced airborne liners began their lives as infantry models and were later converted by the McCord Radiator \u0026amp; Manufacturing Co. prior to being issued. This example has been repainted on the exterior, but retains its parts as well as a serial number written on the interior shell.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis correct \"high pressure\" style M-1 Helmet liner was manufactured in Dayton, Ohio by the Inland Manufacturing Division, as indicated by the embossed \u003cstrong\u003eINLAND \u003c\/strong\u003elogo inside the crown. It is also marked with mold number \u003cstrong\u003e38\u003c\/strong\u003e. This company started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately 1,900,000 M-1 helmet liners and converted about 75,000 liners to airborne configuration. Inland Manufacturing discontinued M-1 helmet liner production in 1943 when their manufacturing services were deemed better used elsewhere.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe liner is in fair condition but is missing the sweatband completely. Both paratrooper side straps are intact, and the buckles are in fair working order. The serial number \u003cstrong\u003e22999780 \u003c\/strong\u003eis written in gold along the interior brim alongside the name\u003cstrong\u003e JOHN D\u003c\/strong\u003e. We are unsure if these are period markings, but we could not find anyone matching that serial number.
