This is a tremendous framed Bronze Star Medal wits its original 83rd Infantry Division citation certificate named to Captain Francis J. Renzulli, O-524249, Medical Corps, 308th Medical Battalion. The frame has been sealed the way it is since World War II, so we are not going to take it apart to check if the medal is engraved. We assume that since it was framed in this way, the medal was not engraved as there would be no reason for it to be. The frame measures 9¼ x 11¼”.

Renzulli was cited for his devotion to the sick & wounded, rendering outstanding service as a medical officer. “The loyalty and hard work of this officer assured each patient the maximum benefits of medical care at division level.” This is the first example of an 83rd ID Citation certificate we have ever seen, and it’s a really stellar example to a medical captain.

This is a really great piece, ready for further research and display!

The Bronze Star
The Bronze Star Medal is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.

When the medal is awarded by the Army, Air Force, or Space Force for acts of valor in combat, the "V" device is authorized for wear on the medal.
