Original U.S. WWII Era Army Chelsea Message Center M2 in Case with Key - Fully Functional

Original Item: Only One Available. This is genuine fully functional U.S. Army message center clock Mark 2 made by the Chelsea clock company. This model was first produced in 1943. It has a 12 jewel, 8 day Chelsea 12E movement with a 11 jewel detachable lever escapement, sweep second hand. Wind it and it ticks for 8 days. It is mounted in a dust proof and moisture proof black phenolic case with a 6" dial. It features a an hour, minute and second hand as well as another hand for a second time zone which is slaved to the hour hand. The time is set by moving the hands forward with you finger. You should not move them backward as that will damage the movement.

This excellent example is mounted in an Army issue wood carrying box complete with leather carry strap and clasps. The box is serial numbered 631421. Also included is the original key which is marked Chelsea

Clock face measures 6 inches in diameter. The box measures 9" W x 4.5" D x 10" H.

The US Army used these from WW2 to the Vietnam War and were used in the field to mark the time when a message was received. Would make a perfect clock for your desk at work or at home!
