It looks to be made of cotton or linen bunting, with a heavy canvas header bearing sturdy brass grommets on the ends. The stars are separate pieces of cotton, sewn onto both sides of the blue canton. Over the size the flag header is maker-marked\u003cstrong\u003e VALLEY FORGE FLAG CO.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eValley Forge Flag Company was founded in 1882, and remains a family-owned business to this day. Steeped in history, the company began as a burlap sack business, and then moved on to World War I surplus, including American flags. With increasing demand the company opened a small sewing factory in Spring City, PA in 1932. The opening of this factory was the beginning of the Valley Forge Flag brand. We have had other fine flags by this company, and they were a known maker of many types of WWII Flags.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe flag does show some wear, with scattered small tears and pulls. There are also some areas on the edge that show fraying \/ wear, most likely from rubbing on a sharp edge. The flag has the usual age toning, so the white is now somewhat beige.
