They used imagery that tugged at heartstrings, invoked fear, and appealed to a sense of patriotism.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFamilies who lost a soldier during the war received the Gold Star Flag. In this \u003cstrong\u003e28” x 20”\u003c\/strong\u003e poster, artist Wesley Heyman depicts a cocker spaniel resting on a scarf that once belonged to his master in front of a Gold Star Flag with the words \u003cstrong\u003e“...because somebody talked!”\u003c\/strong\u003e at the bottom. His master’s death occurred because somebody inadvertently shared sensitive information. In \u003cstrong\u003e1943\u003c\/strong\u003e, this poster struck a chord with many. The poster unfortunately has some staining and minor damage and tearing on the corners and bottom, due to many years of storage while being folded.
