Michael Troccolo

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great display piece for any Armored collection, a theater-made steamer trunk belonging to Staff Sergeant Michael Troccolo of the 33rd Armor Regiment. The 33rd Armor Regiment was an armored regiment in the United States Army first formed in 1941. They received campaign participation credit for Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. This trunk was obviously painted after the war to commemorate his service. Interestingly, a rare “Spearhead” paper helmet insignia was applied in the top left corner of the lid, a great detail.

The trunk measures 30 ½ x 17 x 12 1/4” and displays the painted 3rd Armored Division “Spearhead”. Troccolo’s name has been painted over but thankfully you can still make it out. The hinges are rough and one is broken, so it doesn’t open well. The leather handles are gone and there is nothing inside. This piece would be best displayed as is.

Ready for display.

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-u-s-wwii-33rd-armored-regiment-painted-theater-made-steamer-trunk-s-sgt-michael-troccolo
