During World War II, this unit was the 22d Armored Field Artillery Battalion. During this time, the battalion participated in the invasion of Normandy, the effort in Northern France, the campaign in the Ardennes-Alsace (the Battle of the Bulge), and the effort in Central Europe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe guidon features crossed cannons under \u003cstrong\u003e22 \u003c\/strong\u003eand over \u003cstrong\u003e1HQ \u003c\/strong\u003efor 1st Battalion Headquarters.
