I Helmet Shell - 11th Regiment, 5th Brigade USMC with EGA

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a gorgeous Mk. I Helmet which is named on a museum tag to Rowland F. McKeeby, Company I, 11th Regiment, 5th Brigade U.S.M.C.. Most notably, the helmet features a P1917 EGA (Eagle Globe Anchor) cap badge, which was punch applied and not drilled as you so often encounter. This gorgeous example is unfortunately missing its liner and chinstrap, with both chinstrap bales still retained.

The shell is maker-marked with a stamping on the underside of the rim that reads FS 158. This maker marking indicates that this is a British produced shell, which is further indicated by the split rivets used to retain the chin strap bales. The “FS” is the marking for Thomas Firth & Sons Ltd of Sheffield who manufactured helmets from 1916-1918. This firm also produced shells marked “F” and most likely used “FKS” according to research.

There is a museum tag attached to one of the chinstrap bales which reads:

U.S.M.C.
