The portrait is signed and dated in the corner, Olipps Frk. 1919, likely the rank and name of the German Prisoner of War who painted it. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe frame measures 8½ x 13½” and is in great shape. The inscription on the back of the frame reads:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLt. Paul Cairnes Hunter\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePainted by German\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePrisoner overseas in\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e1918. Major Hunter\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDied in 1935.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom our research we found that Hunter went overseas on October 4th, 1918, returning on July 4th, 1919. There is no hanger or mount to hang the painting, so it will need something attached.
