Jackson, Company E, 309th Engineer Regiment, 84th Division to send souvenirs home.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRoland E. Jackson was inducted into the National Army on May 28th, 1918. He was assigned to a depot brigade before being reassigned to the 309th Engineer Regiment. He went overseas on September 9th, 1918, and returned on July 11th, 1919, being discharged on July 18th, 1919.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a great piece of trench art from the collection of Jane A. Kimball, and featured in her book, “Trench Art: An Illustrated History”. Included with the box top are photos of the book and the page on which it is shown, with the caption “End of an ammunition box decorated in a German camouflage pattern and used by Private Jackson to send his war souvenirs home.
