Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice service worn size 6 3/4 marked regulation M1895 enlisted forage cap, fitted with an artillery "Crossed Cannons" badge to the front. This was the U.S. Army's first transition to a visor cap after leaving the traditional kepi design. Made of dark blue wool with a black faux leather visor bound with patent leather, the tarred leather chinstrap and side buttons unfortunately absent. The cap retains the original russet brown leather sweatband which is in good condition, but now almost totally detached from the cap due to the stitching rotting out.
Cap is in overall good service used condition. Perfect for display or a restoration project.
