Gates, after he was recalled to active duty Aug. 1, 1955 and was assigned at \u003cem\u003eATRC Headquarters, Scott Air Force Base, Ill, with duty station at Chanute Air Force Base, Ill\u003c\/em\u003e. General Gates originally enlisted in 1917, and served throughout WWI, WWII, and the Korean war.
