This is something that we have only ever had very few of. This is a very good condition U.S. M1892 bayonet dated 1902, made for the Springfield Model 1892–99 Krag-Jørgensen rifles, some of which were still in use during WWI. It is fitted with its original all steel scabbard with a swivel belt loop on the back. These are very rarely seen on today's market, especially with the scabbard included and fully intact and in such good condition.

The "Krag" was the U.S. Army's first repeating rifle, and the M1892 bayonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet, made for use on the 7.5 mm. M1889 Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull bolt-action rifle.

This example is in very good condition, though it has been blued at some time after production. Some of the factory machining can be seen, but it looks to have been polished before being refinished. The post 1899 pattern "ribbed" grips no longer have any ribbed texture, and are held in place by the correct dome headed rivets, which were not ground smooth. There are small dents, with a chip missing from the left grip scale, and a symbol marked into the right scale. It is marked 1901 on one side of the blade ricasso, and US on the other, and has a fully functional bayonet catch. The pommel does show finish wear and rust peppering from over a century of age.

The scabbard is in very good condition, with the blued finish worn to a nice patina. The scabbard body is straight, with only tiny dents in areas. There area few areas of light oxidation on the scabbard, but nothing major, especially considering the age. The belt hanger is the early pattern, with the open hook belt attachment. The hinge however is missing one of the washers, so it swings freely.

An very nice lightly used example, ready to display or add to your Springfield Krag rifle!

https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-u-s-pre-wwi-m1892-bayonet-and-scabbard-for-springfield-krag-jorgensen-rifles-dated-1905
