The blade retains its bright-finish character beneath an even gray patina, while the smooth-pattern wood grips, functional locking catch, and intact scabbard make this a particularly complete example.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Model 1892 bayonet was adopted for the U.S. Army’s new Krag-Jørgensen rifle family and was based closely on the Swiss Model 1889 bayonet used with the Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull rifle.
